But if you wanted any further assurance, 343s senior community manager John Junyszek has told Twitter fans that the roadmap released towards the end of last year is still. Its the start of a brand new year and Season 3 of Halo Infinite is expected to start on 7 March, 2023. It should be noted that season 3, titled Echoes Within, features much more besides. Obviously a card like the RTX 3070 can handle that but it could prove difficult to pay if you’re on an older, weaker (but still ray tracing capable) GPU like the RTX 2060. And they still have their pound of framerate flesh: at Ultra/1440p but without ray tracing, my RTX 3070-based test rig averaged 115fps in the Bazaar map. Halo Infinite’s new sun shadows don’t look bad at all, but they are easy to miss, especially in the boing-boing-blast chaos of multiplayer. Just last week I was fiddling about Doom Eternal’s ray traced reflections on the Steam Deck, and even with unchanged shadows and lighting, these still made a noticeable difference for the better. That means that anyone who lives on the East coast can join at 2 PM, UK gamers can start at 7 PM, and so on. Halo Infinite Season 3 will begin right after, launching on November 8. Time will tell whether Halo Infinite will similarly turn public opinion around, but the games current limited-time event already seems to have made a lot of fans happy. Not every game is going to be a Control or a Portal with RTX when it comes to the breadth of RT effects, but you’d be surprised how much work a single sub-setting can do. Season 2 of Halo Infinite, dubbed Lone Wolves, will launch May 3rd at 11 AM PST. Let’s be honest, though, these are not major enhancements to how Halo Infinite looks.
