Next, we started increasing the GPU Boost Clock by increments of 10.
In the case of the Strix 2080 Ti, it increased the power target by 25 to 125%. First, we increased to power target as high as possible.

We set the GPU Tweak II to professional mode and started tweaking. Next, we started playing around with the clock speed of both the memory and the GPU clock speed using GPU Tweak II. I got my answer, 89☌ with a max overclock of 2040 MHz. I just wanted to see how hot the top card would get. Just for fun, we attempted to overclock the top card, with SLI disabled. While running FurMark the max temp hit 60☌. After close to an hour of benchmarking we ran FurMark as one of our benchmarks. Next, we started testing the games we benchmarked for this review. The Strix 2080 Ti, at stock, idled at 38☌. The first temp recorded was the stock idle temperature after a couple hours at idle. We do our best to keep the ambient temperature right around 20☌ during testing. The ambient temperature at the time of testing was 20☌ or about 68☏. The max temp while gaming for well over an hour was also recorded. To Validate our overclock, we ran 3DMark Time Spy. To monitor temperatures, we used both GPU Tweak II and Hardware Monitor.
We only overclocked the GPU and the i9-9900K at its stock speeds. This is the second card I have gotten and I am wondering if I should just return it and get a different brand.For overclocking, we used ASUS GPU Tweak II for monitoring and adjusting GPU clock and memory speeds. After the GPU cools down, it says the fan is now at zero, but the fans themselves are still spinning. It shows the fan speed getting up to 55%. I have also tried MSI Afterburner and it the fan curve settings were easier to set.

2 fans are going full speed even after quitting to desktop and GPU Tweak II is showing the fans are not spinning at all. I have gotten the fan curve set, but it doesn't seem to help my initial problem. The card stays cool enough, but the noise is annoying and seems unnecessary seeing how 2 fans are doing all the work, the 3rd isn't spinning and the fan I hooked up to the fan control hasn't turned on yet. I have even tried an older version of Tweak II (originally using most recent DL on ASUS website) I can't find a reason why it won't let me change the settings. I am assuming this is why the fan won't stop spinning because it is saying to spin 0 degrees. On the Y axis (fan speed) it has two dots, one -2 and one at 39. I added a new profile, and went into user defined settings and it will not allow me to change the settings at all. So I decided to try setting the user defined fan settings. Start a game, the fans start spinning full speed, GPU Tweak says they are at zero.Īfter looking around online, I followed someones suggestion to plug a fan into the Fan Control to see if that helps. Installed it and am having the same problems. Thinking the card was defective I had Amazon ship me a new one. GPU Tweak II says the fans are not spinning at all, but seem to be going at 100%.
Even after leaving the game to the desktop and sitting there for 15 minutes, the fans were still spinning full speed. Upon first boot everything seemed to be working fine, but when I fired up a game, the 1st and 2nd fans started spinning like crazy.
